We would like to hear from you. Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. Working with the horses we are often outside during the day and won't be able to answer the phone. Please leave us a message and we always get back to you. If you want to speak to us, best time to ring is after dark. Or you can send us an email.
We welcome people to come to the Ranch and have a look at how we work with the horses. Make an appointment and we will be happy to show you around. Bookings are essential for trail rides.

How to get here
The Ranch is located in the South West of Western Australia, about 350 km South of Perth.
Coming from Perth head towards Bunbury. From Bunbury take the South Western Highway towards Donnybrook, Bridgetown and Manjimup. Follow the South Western Highway south of Manjimup for about 30 kilometres. Turn right into Wheatley Coast Road towards Northcliffe. Follow this road for about 4 kilometres. Turn right on Tinks Road (gravel road). We are the first farm on your left (about 400 metres).
See you soon!
About Us
About Us
My name is Monique van Vliet and my husband is Erwin van Vliet. We are a Dutch couple who immigrated to Australia in 2003. The main reason being our horses. It is very expensive to have horses in Europe, let alone starting a horse business. It simply wouldn't be possible for us. We consider ourselves very lucky to live our dream here in Australia. We bought the farm in 2004 and started turning it into a horse facility.
Why the name Tales of the Trail? We think life is all about the stories you can tell about the road you traveled. All the good memories you had along the way. What we would like to offer you at our ranch is a unique experience. So you'll have your own tales to tell.
We are looking forward to meeting you.
Erwin
He is very relaxed, has lots of patience and is very strict, but fair. Ideal characteristics to deal with young horses. And some people for that matter! Erwin started riding when we met. And he proved to be a natural at it. He loves reining and cutting. Since being in Australia he also discovered camp drafting, which he enjoys very much.
Monique
I was lucky enough to always have horses around our place. Coming from a dad who was a qualified Dressage instructor, horses formed a big part of our life. I started out as a Dressage rider, but along the line the western disciplines intrigued me. I love giving lessons and seeing young horses and riders grow.
